Re: The Ruination of The Internet Archive |
The only way to stop this would be to
disable any new upload and the editing of already uploaded items until they have enough people to take care of this mess
this would be my first step
it´s simple .. logical .. and those who care about this place would understand it

Re: The Ruination of The Internet Archive |
Hate to say it, but I think you're right. You don't have to worry about copyrighted stuff getting in here if nobody can upload anything. I would hate to see that happen as much as the rest of you, but what else can be done? I hope it never comes to that. This site needs moderators pronto, especially with all the copyrighted movies creeping in, but also the porn and wrestling material as well. The porn and wrestling industries are just as aggressive in protecting their copyrights as the movie business, sometimes more so. For that reason, the Archive staff needs to do more than make with the occasional token gesture or sound byte. They need to get on the ball and take some real action. People have offered to help out on a voluntary basis, and I'm willing to help out as well. I'm not sure what to do since I'm a landscaper and a bricklayer, but I would be able to tell the difference between a feature film and a music video. If I had the job, the only thing I could promise is that I would do the best that I can. I'm a pick-and-shovel guy, but I don't want to dig the Archive's grave.

Re: The Ruination of The Internet Archive |
I don't get it with the wrestling. What's the point in pirating these? Do people not get enough of this on TV? Do they have to have their wrestling at work?
From what I can see, not many people download what gets put up here. I see one that's been downloaded 36 times in just over two months. I wonder if it's more for the entertainment of the pirater than anyone else.
